Good Baking

We have been lucky to enjoy fresh bread from a Mennonite family near us recently. They bake it daily and sell it at the local markets and from their home, it is so good.

As I think about why it is so good it is evident they have been doing it for a while, the recipes are tried, tested and true and they stick to what they do best and how it has been done for years gone by, they don't experiment and try to do things better they just do what they know works and I am glad they do.

What can we learn from this family? Well I think we can learn that change is not always good, that sometimes we just can't improve things, and that the Mennonites sure can bake!

It makes me think about society today, all to often we are bored with the old, we want the newest thing, we want to try it our way, the tried trusted and true way is boring, we know best, we are spoilt by choice for everything...

However when I sit and talk with seniors I enjoy hearing about the good old days when life was simpler, less choices, in a way I envy that. What about you, do you think we are spoilt by choice? Do we make things too complicated?
