After staying in a hotel recently I thought it interesting that they left a "note" in the room asking us to let them know by way of putting the note on our pillow if we didn't want the sheets changed. The note went on to say how much water was saved, how good it was for the environment etc. In the bathroom there was a similar note saying to leave the towels on the towel rail if you didn't want them changed. Now I am all for conserving water and protecting our environment but here is my suggestion;
When you check-in they ask "if you will re-use the towels for your stay" then they only change them after day 5 of your stay, the same for the sheets, in turn they give you a credit of $5 off your room rate per day. When you go for this option their housekeeping are more efficient and they don't have to do as much laundry thus saving manpower, water and hydro. They keep some of that savings and pass some on to the client making the concession, it seems fair to me, what do you think?
I also find it interesting that, unless you specifically let them know in some way, hotels change the towels and sheets every day. I don't even do that at home! Same with most people, I'm sure. Maybe some people consider that a perk of staying in a hotel—the joy of fresh towels every day! Who knows, I've seen people get excited about stranger things... Of course, once you're gone they definitely should get clean stuff for the next guest!
ReplyDeleteTrue, we don't change our everyday either. I agree on clean sheets & towels for the next guest :)
