A Long Trip

On Saturday a friend and I started a trip, not just the normal sort of trip we go on for work, but a long trip. In fact from the time we leave our homes until the time we are scheduled to arrive at our end destination hotel we will have travelled "non-stop" for 37 hours!

Now that time does include an eight hour layover, but that is still traveling. In fact by the time we return home we will have flown 18,930 miles...

This trip will see us fly through Dubai twice, visit Sri Lanka and Dubai which neither of us has ever visited before. As I write this first blog we are enroute from Dubai to Sri Lanka and are currently somewhere over the Arabian Sea.

The highlights of the trip so far, seeing the Northern Lights from 38,000 feet, experiencing a mix of nationalities and what appeared to be a mix of cultures in Dubai and having curry for every meal on the flights!

We are flying with Emirates and I must say the quality of the in flight entertainment is first class as is the food and staff.

If you ever travel through Dubai with Emirates and have a layover exceeding 4 hours they give you a free meal voucher, you just go to the Emirates information booth on the 00 level and show your arrival and departure boarding pass. The airport also has lots of lounger chairs that aren't the most comfy but you can put your feet up and stretch out.

Sorry for no images the app I use to write is giving me an error when I include images.

Well that's about it for now, I will write more as time allows...
